Is that because the highlighter? If yes, could it detect long lines and switch it to a text mode or another mode without highlighter?

Highlighter has some influence, but it's not easy to fix it.
If it wasn't code, the solution can be hard wrap lines when you load file.
but you can't do it easily with programm code, cause you could break code functionality with wrong line break.
