Yes, but you will not always remember to open highlighter settings and save, when you've done a new program setting or a setting from menu bar.

There has to be some mechanism that holds an actual PSPad.INI.bak so we will not loose our settings after a crash. And I wonder why PSPad will not use my PSPad.INI after a crash. Why did it create a new one?

Don't rename PSPad.ini.old, but copy it into PSPad.ini

I will make another mechanism.
PSPad will backup INI file only in case the old one is bigger 1kB from program settings.
Please try to find anything what can help to find a reason of empty settings.
Any information what happened before can help me find a reson.

So I tried using the "Create bookmarks" functionality in the search box but it doesn't work for me: pressing "Create bookmarks" appears to be actually running the "Count" function (it just pops up saying "XXX was found 20 times".

Some days ago I had this crash with those windowed tabs where PSPad freezes. This crash did not create a new INI, it uses my old one. But other crashes seems to build a new INI and my bak does not keep my latest changes, as it only gets renewed when I change something in the highlighter settings and save there.
