This string is part of language file provided with this build. You don't need to do nothing special, you should see english text.

If you want to translate it into another language, open corresponding language file (lang subfolder) and translate string.

#6 Re: PSPad.INI gets lost after this update

Posted by: Andreas | Date: 2018-02-28 20:24 | IP: IP Logged

Hi Jan,

from time to time it happens that some or all PSPad.INI settings get lost. After an update or after a crash.

Now again I lost my PSPad.INI after this update to 5.0.0.(267).

I have some old manually backuped INI-files but it should not happen that one looses his settings. It costs me a lot of time to compare all my backuped settings with the new PSPad.INI. I wrote a php script that sorts the groups and properties alphabetically so I can manually compare the settings with winmerge and manually restore them.

Is this possible to make this more secure? So we will not loose our settings? Is it eventually also possible that PSPad automaticaly sorts the INI groups and properties so we easily can compare different ini files?

- Portable
- all rights
- no multiuser
- wsh scripting
- DLL context menu
- one instance
- Windows 10

Hello Andreas. Look at PSPad folder, you should find PSPad.ini.bak file with backed up configuration.

I didn't met INI lost. Do you have PSPad folder synchronized with any cload storage or other special settings for folder where PSPad is?

Hello
I am afraid, I don't know what do you mean. How do you want to "sort" it? Do you mean some "tool" what will sort INI file?

Ok, but when I for some reason start PSPad a second time, then the PSPad.INI.bak gets overwritten and my old settings are gone.

No, no special thinks. A simple folder with the portable version. I watched this for years. It's an issue that I wanted to have reported for a long time.

Pspad.ini.bak isn't created/overwritten if standard pspad.ini isn't OK.
