Notice how the number changed it's position, and only because I turned "Show/hide spaces, tabs and line breaks" on. Positioning the cursor in front of "1" and hitting delete will erase the space that appears (but is not, obviously) after the number. This is confusing when doing some serious editing, and not just this simple example.

If you want to reproduce the problem yourslef, I suggest writting a date; that's the most obvious example I have noticed - numbers will get completely mixed up.

Sorry, I forgot to say I'm using Courier New, cyrillic script, but the problem doesn't seem related as I tried to use different fonts.

I tried it, but no problem occures.
I try it with code from your example, with real tabs, exactly as is it in your example.

I just redownloaded the latest beta, installed it in an independant folder and ran it that way (out of the box). The problem persists and it is real; I'm am not trying to pull anybody's leg here...

Search and replace does not work well (at all) with unicode.

Please more detailed description.
What you search, what you replace, what is wrong.
You can send me sample file and description what should I search

I believe you, but if I can't simulate it, its hard for me to do something with your problem

Enter and Backspace doesn't work anymore. All other keys seems to work. In other applications Enter and Backspace work, so my keyboard is working correctly.
