Hi all,
just updated to 5.0.4 (517) and this is what I noticed:

a) When I have many files open, and the tabs are split into two horizontal lines/bars, and when I click a tab in the 1st line, the entire line gets moved down becoming line 2. So, the clicked tab is not under my pointer anymore, which is a bit confusing. Can I disable that?

b) In the highlighters "PHP" and "HTML multihighlighter" the return type ":void" of functions should be displayed bold too (this return type is new since PHP 7.1). Screenshot

c) Well, this is a minor issue I noticed in a previous version, but it still exists: Word-wrapping makes nonsense under certain circumstances: Video, Screenshot, Description

d) In the "Program Settings..." I enabled "Check include developer versions" and then hit OK or APPLY. PSPad then crashed with 'access violation'. Screenshot, Error log

e) When I clicked "Mail log" in the "application error" window, I got a new window "Info", telling me "Your mail client doesn't support SIMPLE MAPI". PSPad is configured to use system default email program, which is Seamonkey (it has same code-base as Thunderbird). Just a minor thing. Can I do something against it myself? Screenshot

f) It crashed again, when I closed a tab via middle-mouse click. Screenshot, Error log

g) While writing this, I notice in PSPad a new highlighting phenomena: When I select a string, then all occurrences of the same string get highlighted too. Ok, this might be a neat new feature!

Ok, so those two crashes happened today with the latest version, and like they happened in previous versions. Sometimes the PSPad settings are set back to default after such a crash, but not all. The crashes always happen when I perform something related to files - opening or closing them. Even when I double-click a file in the search results, after searching for a certain string in my project files. But it does not happen always, just all few hours.
If the crashes are caused by my Win 7, then blame me. It is a 64 bit system, but PSPad is 32 bit still, installed on drive C:\, which is a SSD.

I will check the new version even more and give you a feedback.

Friendly greetings,
Ravelli

#12 Crash on (517)

Posted by: Andreas | Date: 2020-08-12 10:41 | IP: IP Logged

Just installed 517 and a few minutes later it crashes without an error message. PSPad is open but did not react.

I clicked on an inactive tab and then it happens.

Task manager shows very hight power consumption on both columns. The PSPad task now runs for about 30 minutes with 27% CPU Power.

I've created an image file (170MB) with task manager and have a PSPad.exe.10300.dmp file (1MB). If you like then I can upload it to a server and send you the link.

Now I will try a downgrade one version back.

Hello,

After installing this update, when I open a file it is no longer automatically maximized in the viewport. When opened I must always click the square to maxize it...

I know, I have fixed it already, but just now I am on vacation. This weekend I will return.
