#1 File extenstion

I use the .tpl extension for my template files but whenever I open a tpl file from FTP and then use F12 to save it it always adds .txt to the end despite my choosing all files.

It causes TPL file only or any file you open from your FTP?

So far only tpl files. I open it from FTP and hit F12 and PSPad automatically selects the TXT file type so I change it to all files and add .tpl to the file name but PSPad still adds .txt to the end. I suspect it's because it doesn't know what a tpl file is.

I just tested by renaming a txt file to just tx for the extension and again PSPad added the .txt to the end on saving.

Just tested and it does it with any unknown file type when you use Save as.

Hi. First of all thank you for this great piece of software. For a long time I've been searching for a powerful, easy to use editor to replace UltraEdit on my Windows machines. I have donated some weeks ago and surely will again in the future.

After checking with 4.5.8 (2463), I found that I cannot save a file with no extension.
Trying to save a file "test" results in a file named "test.txt".
This happens with 'All files (*.*)' selected as file type in the 'Save as...' dialog box.

I'd really appreciate it, if you could look into changing this behavior to make it possible to save files with arbitrary or no file extensions.

BTW, PSPad runs great under Linux using Wine.
Keep up the great work!

If you want to save file with no extension, use dot on the end of file name, e.g. filename.

Saving with a dot as last character while having the "All files" file type active does indeed work and a file with no extension is created. Just what I needed.

Thanks a bunch!
