Lolo Irie:
I get always the .txt extension added

Don't matter if I choose the otion Save or Save as...

What PSPad version do you use?
Did you change in Save dialog under file name filter to All files (*.*)?

It's the 5.0.3 (371) and yes I change the file type to All files (*.*)

Test and it works for me.
New TXT document, I wrote anything there and pressed Ctrl+S (save)
In the Save dialog I changed type to All files - in this moment extension TXT disappeared from file name. I wrote "any" as extension there and file was saved as name.any

Yes, it works, but still not for files without an extension

Sorry, my fault.
If you need to save file WITHOUT extension, there must stay dot on the end of file name.

Open (or create) any file in PSPad
Press save as (or save for new file)
Change file type to *.*
If you write new name, ensure, there is a dot on the end of file name.

Funny thing - if you omit to change the file filter and leave the default, but you write a dot at the end (expecting result without an extension), it leads to "aslkdjfn..txt" winking smiley

Currently, I open a new file "News.txt", Save it as "News." with file type to *.* and I get a file named "News."

But how to get a file WITHOUT the dot at the end ?

PS: thanks a lot for your help on this topic really appreciated !!! smiling smiley

Look in windows explorer and you will see there is no dot in file name

For Windows, file name without any text after dot = file without extension, and windows don't display dot on the end of file name
