I repeat my question about version 5.5.1 (817):
Any news on the editor engine replacement or the chinese/strange character problem?
The latter is still the most important problem.

I want to give chance to the new version of the Synedit component. I cooperate with authors - INI highlighters support was added last week.
There is used new page drawing system. I hope it will help speed up drawing and remove flaws what can possibly occurs during call drawing.
On the other side, I have less free time, so progress is much slower I supposed.

Hello PsPad
First of all, thank you so much for your incredibly useful software, which I've been using with satisfaction for years!
Unfortunately, I have to say that I can't abandon PsPad version 5.0.6.589 for the newer versions, as the search function in the newer versions doesn't seem to work, at least for me!
When I open a project with many files and folders, if I search for a word in all the files, the newer versions of PsPad find the word correctly, but the links it displays in the results window when I click them don't lead anywhere. It always opens a nonexistent file, titled the number of open tabs, and the file contains nothing.
What could have caused this?

Hello
Thank you for info.
Is the link displayed in the result correct? Do you see whole path?
Can you send me screenshow with the search result?

Hi PsPad
Thanks for your time!
The links shown on the search results page are correct, and they open the indicated files in Windows Explorer.
All the files found by the search are also correct, the contains the searched word.
This is the print screen:
i.postimg.cc
This is the contents of the results page:
fromsmash.com

I see the problem - square brackets.
PSPad counts, that in square brackets is number of finds. It removes square brackets and it's content.
It should be easy to handle - I will go from the end or I will use other format to show number of finds.
Can you please tet it with other project what doesn't use square brackets in folder names and confirm it to me?

Yes, you were right.
I modified a project by removing files and directories with square brackets, and now the search works correctly.
The links now open the correct file, in the correct row and column!
Will it be a complex change?
P.S.
I use square brackets a lot to indicate directories with template files, so I can always create files with the same style.

I will fix it.

I've managed to make this version crash repeatably. While I am editing a .php file, I turn on line-wrapping. Then if I type "<div>" at the beginning of a new line, it crashes.
If I do NOT turn on line-wrap mode, it does not crash.
Looks like typing "<strong>" or "<p>" will also cause it to crash. Also does it with .shtml files.
I kept getting a dialog box blocking the crash submitter so I took a screenshot if you need to look at it.
