What he means is that settings get lost.
Background color for example.
Row numbers missing (toggled off)

There were problem with skin file - Carbon. PSpad tels you that Carbon isn't available.
When you select new dark skin, you got your "background" back.
This isn't "screws up all settings", sorry.
"screws up all settings" means PSPad destroys your PSPad.ini file and you lost all settings.

I upgraded to build 597 today and had all my settings reverted to default PSPad values after first startup of PSPad. Luckily I had a backup of my original PSPad.INI settings file, once applying the backup file and restarting PSPad everything was back to normal.

In addition to that I have display issues with the tab bar since build 593, the tab headers sometimes vanish until I mouse-over them. Also I can't see all open tabs anymore as only one line of tabs is displayed (earlier builds had the tab area resize to multiple lines in case there were more tabs open than could be displayed in one line).

How did you do the update? Did you replace existing files as is mentioned in any developer build description?

In program settings set multiline tabs to see all files tabs.

Reset settings means you should delete PSPad.ini
Part of the any setup or zip isn't PSPad.ini file, it can't be replaced by updating.

Same happened to me.
Restoring the PSPad.ini helped.

I did not replace the ini file when updating, nor deleted.

Other thing i noticed after updating to 507:

Previously when i hit [ then ] was automatically added, but when i hit ] right after then it acted as if i have just written [].

But now it results in []].

The same happens with other brackets and quotes.

But it might be that it was caused by resetting the setting when updating to 507.
