What exactly doesn't work?
If you have enabled option Alt sets column mode, selection is made with mouse together with ALT key pressed. Without ALT key mouse will reset selection to normal block. But selection still work for cursor keys.
If you prefer switch block and select with mouse, switch off option in program settings / Editor 1

This must have changed as the default setting in v5. I recall the default behavior to be select selection type from the menu and then it stays until you select a different one from the menu. However, now that I know you can do this ALT thing, I like it much better. Thank you!
