#11 Hex Search with embedded nulls (00) fails

Posted by: hectorh | Date: 2012-02-07 23:23 | IP: IP Logged

Assume a file containing the following sequence is loaded into the Hex editor:

0x00 0x00 0x00 0x01 0x23 0x33 0x00 0x44

Performing a search:

- Press CTRL-F
- clear the "As Text" option

Search results:

Search for "01" works.
Search for "01 23" works.
Search for "00 01" fails.
Search for "33 00" works but it only selects the "33".
Search for "33 00 44" works but it only selects the "33".
Search for "33 00 55" gives a false positive.

I used current PSPad and I found missing QUOTE and TRANCK only.

Not for me ! I don't speak about recognize tags, but warnings about tags without closing.

PSpad doesn't highlight all pair tags. Only some often used.

The File change recognition still not work properly on Windows 7.
When i send send PS Pad into the background and return several Minutes later, it always states that every file, i have currently open in the editor, had changes.

Perhaps it is usefull to know that i am working 100% on network shares.

Yup. You may check time setting of your computer and time settings of the network device. If there is some offset, you'll get what you described. You can do a quick check: save file to your local drive and save it to the share, then look at properties at "Last Modified" attribute of both files. Please refer to this (long) thread concerning this issue.
