Visual artifacts when selecting text with accented Cyrillic characters

Create a text file.
Use UTF-8 encoding. (I also tried with UTF-16 LE, same problem.)

Copy this text into the file "бо́льшим" (no quotes).

Try selecting this text with your mouse. You'll notice how the stress mark moves, a gap forms and the word shift by one character to the right as you select it.

Selecting with Shift and cursor keys also causes problems.

Windows Notepad and Visual Studio Code open the file fine.

Accented Cyrillic O (о́) is defined as "D0 BE CC 81" in the UTF-8. Not sure whether this is important.
