Bug happened again, but now I did just small edit so I remember what I did.
I loaded same file from backup again, repeated the edit as before in same way - no bug.

Looks like the bug is not dependent from the editing actions.

Here is what the bug changed:

Because of that error and its random nature, it feels unsafe to work on the Pspad, so for me the ONLY solution was to use the old and reliable version 5.0.0. It's a shame it doesn't have the nice features of the latest version like folding and more... but the bug with the strange symbols doesn't exist.

Well, I think I had this problem even without editing anything, just by opening and saving a file but I'm not really sure about this. And because this occurs only to some users it must be related to some setting or a combination of settings. Like virtual space behind line endings or syntax highlighting. But this is only an educated guess.
And yes, this problem is extremly annoying for years now. A text editor which randomly destroys the files entrusted to it is more or less unusable. No matter how cool its features might be. This is explicitely no bashing of Jan, many thanks for the faithful and constant work on PSPad. I know how hard the detection of a bug like this can be.

One thing which attracts my attention is that the randomly injected pattern looks more or less the same within every corresponding bug report. And it looks suspiciously familiar regarding coding scheme markers which belong to the start of a file. Additionally they seem to be injected always at the end of some code block.

Someone wrote that bug happens only on big files, I had it happen only in ~40 lines of code.

Yes. Sometimes just switching between tabs triggers the bug without any editing at all.

Wouldn't it be not random then? The bug seems completely random.
