#1 Error : Lost Saving Files

Posted by: WildcatMidnight | Date: 2021-02-25 05:11 | IP: IP Logged

Hi

. I Create /or/ Open & Work with: More than 1 file(s) (At same time)
. I Finish all by: File-Exit /or/ Ctrl+Alt+F4 /or/ Left-Click_(Red)Window-Close-Button(Top-Right)
. Then PsPad shows Confirmation-Box: "Save Changes..."
. I choose (click): "Yes To All" (as many previous versions before / & like other apps familiar behavior)
. But this time - Version 5.0.4(543) - after checking my files: Only 1 file has been saved / & Other files has lost change (has been made)

Pls see it / Thanks

Hello

Thank you for report. As I remember, I fixed it in the current 5.0.5 build (PSPad developer forum), but please let me confirm it first.

Thanks

- Pls, make it (β5.0.5_Portable) Full-version (Install-able) soon.
Because now it has no (support) Recent/Jump-list(Windows) - that's inconvenient.

# # #

- Another problem is:
. PSPad can't show the blank-spaces at the end of each-line (if have some).
. In other words, it can't move to the end of line exactly (if there's one or more blank-spaces).
. If you press [End]_keyboard-button (at a line): PSPad always jumps just to right-after last visible-character (not-include blank-spaces). Therefore (you) don't know whether there's blank-space (or not) ; and how many (if have some) to edit/correct the line.
(In that case, (you) have to open the (same) file just at others some simple-plain text-editors (familiar-Notepad_e.g.) to jump & correct exactly.)

So, pls fix it.

Hello, to your bugs:
1. switch off Trim trailing spaces option in the program settings / Editor. If you have enabled enter behid Line of feed (EOL), there are no white spaces till you write any char. In the fact you put cursor into free space only.

2. I don't understand why I can't move to the end of line. Can you provide some example?

3. Behavior when you press ENTER depends of settings. Program settings / Editor 1 - switch off Auto indent mode option

If you want same behavior like Notepad, open program settings / Editor 1
switch off following options:
Scroll past EOF
Scroll past EOL
Trim trailing spaces
Auto indent mode
Extended Home key
Extended End key

I ran into something similar before. One thing that's worth checking is whether the file encoding or line endings are different than expected, since that can cause some odd behavior. If everything else looks right, trying with a clean config or portable version can also help narrow down whether it's a settings issue.
