Also please describe most exact what you have done

- Problematic file in question was a *.XXX with X byte in size.
- If I click/do/execute (..accurate instructions here..)

This message here is an general text, nothing special to you.
Jan gets all forum posts by mail additionally, so nothing is lost here.
You can still report bugs here, that is fine and very welcome.
Please use an most descriptive Subject line (PSPad version, what happens,...).
Don't post the log here, rather send them to Jan by mail.
Post maybe only some information from the log 'header' and 'footer',
(like I has left back) so others can see that something related is going on.

Please next time log to support mail.
I need to know when it occurs. What do you do when you see the exception.
I see you use Black theme

When I get this error, generally in the pspad-window all is frozen, was an 'exception' that I could copy the posted error-log.
So how to log to support mail?
I normally have 2 or 3 instances of PsPad running, in each of them 'created a project from folder'.
If the error occurs in one of the instances, the others are not affected.
One of the possibilities to reproduce the error (even it doesn't happen always) is to make some 'hard-changes' in the file-folder (eg. add, delete files with the windows explorer)
I don't think that the error is related to the Carbon theme, it also happened before - what happens is actually creating a new project, that there are changed folder files/contents more often, once the project enter in a more stable status with less changing files, file names etc. the error will happen less, I think ...

Note: Upcoming this error, all settings regarding to the skin in then PsPad.ini, and the 'special settings' are erased, and set back to the default settings.

I also got this error, but I can't send the log because over the error window is another window with an OK button and the following text below, which pops up every time in a loop if I click on the OK button.

Access violation at address 006810C6 in module 'PSPad.exe'
Read of address 00000160

What I did? I wanted to switch to another file and clicked with the mouse on another tab. *error pops up*

PSPad is open since yesterday. Usually it's open a whole week, but because of issues with special characters and some Ini file changes (it's in another thread) I had to restart it. All I can do now is to kill the process.

I also often get this error. I'm trying to save my session frequently so I wont loose my open files. Maybe one day Jan will find the error.

I am flirting with other editors more and more. There is one I might switch to.

I have had this problem for several years on Windows 7 computer. It appeared some time when I updated PSPad but the problem I saw only sometimes. After some time I updated PSPad again and the problem disappeared. I dodn't update PSPad anymore and everything was fine.

A few days ago I bought a new computer with Windows 10, installed a fresh version of PSPad and the problem is back. Now it appears every 5-10 minutes. I really like PSPad but I am thinking to switch to another editor because it's not possible to work in this way.

Access violation at address in module 'PSPad.exe'. Read of address .

Is there a possibility to download the version 5.0.1? If yes, where? It was working fine but now PSPad is not usable.

Access violation errors + strange characters in the file appears after saving it, like:

ÿ se
