PSPad locks up when waiting for FTP response

This is a strange issue. I'm not getting an actual error code for it, but it's definitely a bug in how the app runs.

When I am connected to FTP (doesn't matter which server I connect to), if my internet is spotty or a little slow, or if there is any time wait to connect, it locks PSPad up completely and I can't continue to work while I wait. It's very frustrating because it slows me down in my work. Anyone else have this problem? If so, is there a fix? I searched to no avail in the forum.

It's in my todo already - move FTP communication to separate thread. But I will do it after I will move PSPad to new Delphi version.
