The syntax highlighter seems to have troubles with source files that exceed a certain number of lines (between 10.000 and 20.000 lines). Nothing is highlighted when the file is too big.
Yes, I know it is a bad practice to have such a long source files, but there is no easy way to get rid of them.
I am using the latest version (4.5.8, build 2500).

This will surely help. Tve value is maximal file size of bytes when highlighter is on. Set e.g. one milion bytes.
