Matching brackets

When you place the cursor on a bracket, this bracket is highlighted along with the matching bracket. This is a very useful feature.

But matching brackets are also highlighted when the cursor is placed on the character following a bracket, and that is really disturbing.

I know that this sounds somewhat bold, but could you make this optional. I find it really disturbing, because when the cursor is placed to the right of the bracket, it looks like it was located on the bracket.
