I am using v5.06 on Windows 7. Yes I know, Win7 is no longer supported, does not get updates anymore...
Fyi I want to tell you that I observed the *same* buggy behaviour of PSPad as other users reported for Win10. So it seems the recent problems (crashes, strange chars appearing) are not limited to Win10, so Win10 might not be the culprit.
Crashes:
My impression is that the crashes occur when the number of open tabs changes, i.e. during opening of files or closing of tabs.
Strange chars appearing:
No idea what action causes this.

Use the latest build from developer forum. It much more stable than 5.0.6

Sure, thanks.
My remark aimed at the fact that the observed problems also occur on Win7. Therefore the cause of the bugs should be searched within PSPad itself - and not in Win10 or in recent updates of Win10 (as was surmised in related posts).

The problem may actually be deep inside a widget that the author uses and may not be fixable by him. The author has the widget but may not have the source code for it.

Pspad doesnt use any black box without source, except additional things like TiDy, OpenSSL e.t.c.
But if problem is in core libraries of programming environment, it's ptoblem to find it and fix it.
