default html code

When starting an HTML document the default html code is using the doctype for html 4. Where do I edit this to change the doctype to html 5?

It's template file Default.html in the subfolder Template

If you have PSpad installed in program files, you will need to run it as administrator to have rights to write there.

Easier way how to edit template:
Ctrl+N (new file)
Second tab - templates
Choose Default under HTML and button Modify

There is no necessary to register it. If you want to be used as default, modify file default.html

Or you can use file/new (ctrl+n) and choose your template

no, i mean i wanted to create a totally new template with a new extension. i was hoping i could create new template for ".blade.php" file that would show up in the templates when i click on a new file

Windows world doesn't supports multiple file extensions.
If you create blade.php file, it will apear in templates for php automatically. There is no necessary to register anything

ok, i have tried to create a "Default.bladephp" file in the templates, but i still don't see it show up in the "new file" :/

Because extension .bladephp isn't registered to any highlighter.
If you want new extension for e.g. PHP, go to menu settings / highlighter settings / php and add your extension
