#1 Tabs color: limitation on number

Posted by: brolx | Date: 2018-08-28 09:03 | IP: IP Logged

I'm maybe using PSPad too much winking smiley
I've reached a max number (buffer size I suppose) and I cannot assign a color to a tab anymore (actually I can do it but it's lost when closing the program).
Is it possible to increase this buffer?
Another possibility (but it would obviously be better to have both) would be to allow to assign a color to all files belonging to a folder/tree. That's typically what I (manually) use.

Thanks a lot

Program settings / Files and dirs.
Do you have checked [x]Remember file state?
Buffer is unlimited, each file is remebered individually in the file PSCache5.bin

The condition - you need to have rights to write in this file. E.g. when you unpack portable version into program files, PSPad has no rights to write there and no settings will be remembered

[x]Remember file state is checked (I unchecked, aply, rechecked, apply).
PSCache5.bin is updated at each close but the new colors I set are not remembered. This is why I thought it was a limit on the number

No. When the option Program settings / Files and dirs / [x]Save file state
is checked, PSpad stores / Restores selected color tab for your file too.

The problem can be if you checked option [x]Store from local files only. In this case local file settings is stored, for the network files info isn't stored

I tried to unselect "Store from local files only", same result.
Did you try with several dozens of remembered tabs colors?

Yes. Number of files in PSpadCache5.bin file isn't limited. Each file include it's path is remebered individually.
In case you will move your files from one location to another it will stop working, cause file won't be found.

Hello Pspad
I would like to ask if would be possibile, in future releases, to keep, the colours of the tabs directly in the project file (*.ppr), like an additional textual parameter, instead of keeping them in the file PSCache5.BIN.
In this way, all the project and the colurs of the file tabs would be portable.

Thank you for ever for your very good program,
I love it and use it every day!!

Good bye
Jonny

I would like to move project into XML files. It will add possibility to easier handle any additional properties.
Adding e.g. tab color will be easy then.
