Font width

I use monospace raster font 7x12 pix. But PSPad creates font with 8 pixel width, and text line looks rared and wider then expected. Is this a bug or feature? I think, it because of using CreateFont*() with specifying of width of font to 8 pix.
When I use CreateFontIndirect() with lfWidth==0 width of symbol == 7 pix.
What can I do to make font 7 pix width?
