Edit files in compare window

It would be great if it was possible to directly edit files in compare window. While there are external tools which allow this, it is not possible to use easily and directly such tools when comparing the current file in editor with the latest disk version.

P.S.:
I know that programming that would be a lot of work...

Normally, I use Total Commander for comparing files. There I can enter edit mode and copy lines from one window to the other. That is very comfortable. But I can't easily use Total Commander when I want to compare the file that I am currently editing with the latest version on disk.
