Incorrect saving of files on network

#1 Incorrect saving of files on network

Posted by: BaukeR | Date: 2017-11-21 16:12 | IP: IP Logged

I'm using PSPad 4.6.2 (2750) and regularly I have the following error situation:

When I open a file (about 100 kB size) stored on our office network (Windows Server, 1 Gb/s infrastructure); remove a line and save the file, the line stays present in the resulting file, although the file date and size has changed and the save-button in PSPad has become greyed out.
When I re-open this file, the last line of the file has been corrupted/stripped.
When performing the same editing action in MS Notepad I never had this behaviour.
I neither saw this behaviour when editing a file stored the local harddisk.

- Any idea what could cause this problems ?
- Is there a possibility to enable a logging mode in PSPad to get some clues.

Regards,
Bauke

Hello. Your shared drive is on Unix system?

No, the share is on a MS Windows server (Windows Server 2008 r2 standard).
I have no problems with the network connection: no disconnects or disappearing drive letters.
The share is accessible by a drive letter on my local computer.
I have read/write rights on this location.

Additional information:

This is what happens to the last line of an ini file in which i tried to delete one line somewhere in the middle of the file:

contents of last line of original good file:
CoordinateSystem=WGS84

after editing/saving the file:
Co
(20 characters are missing)

The problem seems not to occur with PSPad 457 (tested myself) and version 458 (used by my colleague who never had this problem).
