#1 Windows 10

Posted by: minychillo | Date: 2015-09-30 09:57 | IP: IP Logged

Hi,

I have been using PSPad for many years now. Love it ! And many thanks to the developers !

Now, I got a new Laptop with Windows 10 ( crazy I know tongue sticking out smiley ) with a QHD+ Resolution ( 3200 x 1800 I think )....

.. and PSPad looks terrible on it.

Even if I reduce the screen resolution, still shitty. Also tried compatibility mode, not better.

I am completely new to Windows 10. Is there a solution to this, or do I have to wait until a new "W10 friedly" PSPad is released ?

Regards,
Minychillo

What PSPad version do you use? Install current 4.5.9 and than download and replace it with current developer build.
Latest PSPad is HighDPI ready

Yes, I got the latest ( 4.5.9 )
So where do I get the latest developer build ?
Or do you mean it the v4.6.0 from the developer forum ?

Yes. Simple unpack ZIP (with subfolders!) and replace existing files
Important is PSPad.exe + .\Lang\English.ini (or localization you use)
You can simple backup folder test it and replace back if you don't like it.

So here is a screen shot. Icons are very small, and menus look bad.
( screen resolution is 3200 x 1800 with 250% at "change size of text, apps and other items" )

Go to program settings / Program 1
Set "PSPad_24" for Toolbar Iconset and for Menu icon set.
If it doesn't help, send me another screenshot please

minychillo:
Icons and menus are set to PsPad_24

It means is necessary to create iconset in higher sizes, e.g. 32x32 or 48x48
It takes several hours to create new set of icons.
Because I am not able to test it with your hardware, I will try to create icon set with bigger sizes only by resizing existing one. Look won't be ideal, but we will be able to recognize what size will be ideal for your resolution.
