Jan,
Can you give me a comment about the bug I mentioned in the 2275 Eng post about the context menu error for any standard user?

Thanks,
Pete

Hi Jan,

It looks a bit heavy work but I think that the "final" solution is to change the edit component winking smiley

Scintilla is much more "programmer friendly" than SynEdit.

The problem of Scintilla is a well established application like PSPad. A Scintilla based PSPad will be a ground shaking piece of software smiling smiley

Available editors build around Scintilla lacks many futures I like and use in PSPad.

Btw, thanks again for this great editor...

Mahir

Thank you for this build.

Yes the entries in the scripts-menu are not in the language-files. Only this one is in the language-file: mScriptsRecompile_Caption=Recompile scripts

Make a final release soon. Actually it seems that pspad-project is dead. (last build on page is from 20. october 2006) I know some people who changed their text-editor to another one cause of some bugs. (which are already fixed in beta-versions, but most users don't know that)
So you lose some users and this is not very good.

Last, I think you need a collapse/expand-function in pspad (for functions, classes etc.). With this, you make much users happy and you reach a new user-group.
Thus you would stand out against other text editors.

Sorry for my bad english. I hope you understand me.

You are right, it's big deal. I am deciding to release full version now and work on the "new" PSPad with new base.
Scintilla is black box for me - DLL. I don't know, if scintilla is unicode - I don't think.

My last favourite is PlusMemo component. I tested it and I like it.

New build PSPad 4.5.3 (2278)

pspad.cincura.net

Changes:
Log window (I hope it will be OK now)
Missing string in Program settings related to Tab switch
Search in Program settings / direct edit works for selected section only

sorry about my poor english, it's not my first language.

I found a problem about "view--hex edit mode".

if you open a file(it's not a type of txt file) in text mode,it's ok; but when you change the mode by using "view--hex edit mode",the pspad can't display the correct information about the file, like this:

4D5A MZ

so i use the "view--hex edit mode" again to undo that operation, but it can't come back, like this:

MZ

if you directly open that file with hex mode, it's ok.

i think the function about mode changing between text and hex is very usefull.

finally, thank you for the pspad. it's not just freeware for everyone.

PSPad can't handle bonnary files in text mode. Open your file directly in the HEX editor

#19 PSPad unicode 4.5.3 (2278) English / logwindow

Posted by: pypardo | Date: 2007-09-26 08:06 | IP: IP Logged

Hi all

Thanks for this new release.
My main annoying problem was this log window that (sometimes) display all characters at same place.

I've just made 10 compilation and everything has worked fine.

PsPad is *really* the best text editor...

test configuration:
* winxp sp2
* pspad build 2278
* compilation by external call to cygwin (bash)
* hyperthreading

Best regards
pierre

#20 Re: PSPad unicode 4.5.3 (2278) English / logwindow

Hello,

I've still the same problem, that in the log window sometimes the characters are displayed on one location. This is not fixed with the release 2278 at all.

On my PC which has German settings (Regional/Language Options) this problem does not occur. On PC of my colleagues (English settings) this error is very good reproducable.

Example:

I have created a batch "test.bat" file containing:

@echo off

@echo 1
@echo ----------------------------------
@echo 2
@echo ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
@echo 3
@echo ----------------++++++++++++++++++
@echo 4
@echo //////////////////////////////////
@echo 5
@echo ///////////////-------------------

When calling "test.bat" (e.g. from "Tools" tab in the right window) the output catched within the log window should look like:

1
----------------------------------
2
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
3
----------------++++++++++++++++++
4
//////////////////////////////////

But sometimes the output switches (even during processing the batch file) and the is looking like:

1
----------------------------------
2
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
3
+
4
/

When I open this output as a new file in the Editor Window, everything is fine. I don't know, what cicumstances/which character is causing the log window to switch into the failure mode. Maybe the language seetings of the host machine have an influence?

Is there any possibility to collect some necessary debug data to support your bug fixing?
