I'll start with the simple truth, PSPad is the best text editor available on windows. Keep up the good work.

My problem is that copy doesn't seem to be working in this new build.

I open a medium sized text file and highlight some text. If I press ctrl+c nothing is copied into the clipboard and copy is greyed out in the edit menu.

Thanks
Luke

.cab is fine. Most archive/compression apps see it and considerring most if not all users are using Windows anyway it's probably the best way to go.

Will you correct the behaviour of ASCII Table window to accept accented chars (to position the cursor on pressed char) soon? It used to work on versions prior to 4.5
I find that very usefull to find html codes for accented chars& scaron;for š for example.

Thanks for great editor

I use 7-zip and CAb is ok, but I agree with Gerzo, and I'd vote for 7Zip too, to support it.

I don't know why it matters what format you use. File size is not a big issue in this case. Compatibility is... especially when distributing a software application to a large audience, as jan is.

I am about to release some software myself, and the format of the download / install is the easiest decision to make: you go with the format that is compatible with a LARGE target audience.

If the debate is *.cab versus *.7zip, I would choose *.cab for sheer range of compatibility.

In the end, jan should decide for himself... if supporting the 7zip format is so important to him that he would risk not reaching a larger audience, then he is welcome to make that decision. I would go with the more compatible format.

Yes, I've also found this (and all previous UNICODE) version to be faulty with tabs. For some reason, PSPad can't handle tab spacing properly. One option I could've used here is "replace tabs with spaces" or "insert tabs as spaces" (either by default or on load/save).

Regardless, the tab problem needs to be fixed sooner rather than later - it renders the entire program unusable.

I suggest 7zip. 7zip program also opens most of common xip format like .cab, .zip, gz, bz2, tar.
So, let's go to open source tiny app.

That's a good idea to distribute PSPad updates using the 7-Zip format.
The 7-Zip file format is better and can make smaller files.
And, of course, it's free, so everybody can download it from here.

As Aria stated you are better off going for a format that has better compatiablity. Every windows user can open zips and cabs but not 7-zip. If you switch to 7-Zip you are forcing people to install a new program be it 7-zip or Winrar. I'd only recommend 7-Zip if you are going to release the betas as self extracting archives.
