Macari:
Only as notice. I get the error again. ^^

I've hit this a couple of times too. I have nothing helpful to add, just wanted to add my voice in case you thought it was isolated to one user...

I have updated my OS to windows 10, now I see the bug in pspad file browser too.

www2.pic-upload.de (after refresh folders with button, its okay again)

What I can say is:

1. I found this problem only in pspad

2. Its happen temporarily too. means, close damaged file in editor and re-open can fix it. the file itself was in this case not damaged.

3. its happen in search&replace in multiple files or save current file, what damage the file.

4. pspad is always open, I work 99% the time with text editor and my pc use only hibernate for sleeping. when there is no windows update, I (re-)start never my pc.

5. very rare I get a memory crash in pspad and program will terminate.

Does it happen in PHP highlighter only? Does it happen to anybody with other highlighter? I have suspicious that this bug is highlighter related.

I have also the similar problem of Macari.
I use PSPad everydays but this problem appeared less than a year ago.

My text file contains a "ÿ" at begin of line in the middle of the file.
And this corruption stop after 5 characters.

This anomaly is very rare: less than once a month.
My files are not local, there are stored on a remote machine in a local network company. And stored also on other SVN server.

I don't know if the corruption appears after load or save file.

Today, I use PSPad 4.6.2 (2750).
I thought the problem was internal, but obviously other people are having the same problem.

I'm experiencing this bug too, and it happens also in the latest 32bit version which I'm using.

I still haven't found what causes the problem, but I'm sure this happens even when no hibernation is used, and it was present even when I tried the 64bit version.

It's a scary bug, since it overwrites some bytes of the file with garbled chars...

It was also present in the beta versions of 5.x.

Yep, and as I've documented elsewhere, both this data corruption and the program crashes are still occurring with clean installs of 5.0.0 build 271 and 4.6.2 build 2750. Unfortunately, pspad never sees these, so they will not be fixed.

This is still happening in PSPad 5.0.0 (277)
image

It happened to me while copy pasting.
Highlighter: HTML Multihighlighter
Encoding: Unicode UTF-8 no BOM (65001)
for both files (source and destination)

I've copied about 10 times and it happened 3 times.
You do not see it when you paste the code/text. You see it later after saving.

This bug can be real pain in the ass.

pspad:

It happens to me repeatedly, with several different versions of PsPad.
I *never* edit PHP, only C and C++
