PSPad 4.5.8 (2485) on Win 8

I can open help, and search the index, but when I click on a top in the index, no text appears in the right pane of Help. Same problem when I use search, or use the Contents tab.

Is this a problem specific to Win 8?

Right click on the help file and check allow the help. Maybe you will need to install CHM help support. MS stops support of CHM help format even many of their own helps are in this format.

pspad:
Right click on the help file and check allow the help.

Either that, or the user have the help on network drive, where the help is blocked too.

Action canceled!

The HTML Help viewer has canceled the display
of the help file due to security restrictions.
This will happen with all HTML Help files that
you open over a network connection (note,
that local HTML Help files will not be affected).

The reason for this error is a new and more strict security policy for Microsoft
Internet Explorer. Microsoft is permanently updating MSIE to fix potential or real
security threats. In case of this error, the Microsoft Security Bulletin MS05-026
disables HTML Help files opened from a network drive.

How to Fix This - Unblock the Help File

There's a workaround that lets you explicitly 'unblock' a CHM help file. To do this:

Open Windows Explorer
Find your CHM file
Right click and select Properties
Click the Unblock button on the General tab

That was the *.HLP format since Vista who was dropped. *.CHM should still work, even with W8.
