#1 ASCII character table vs ALT+num keys do not match

Posted by: clanman | Date: 12/13/2017 03:32 | IP: IP Logged

When using Alt+number to enter special characters, characters from 127 and above do not match what what is shown in he ASCII table.

Example
ASCII 167 is used for §.

Typed alt+167 gives º
Alt+167 copied from ASCII table gives §

On Format menu ANSI is selected

PSPad version is 4.6.2 (2750)

Is there a way to correct this?

Hello
It depends of regional settings - code page for non unicode programs in your system,
It depends of your keyboard settings. If you switch keyboard, the resul will be different.

Regional settings are English (Australia)
Location is Australia

Keyboard and Languages -> Text Services and Input Languages settings are:
General Tab
Default input language is English (Australia) - US
Installed services are English (Australia) and English (United Sates) in that order

Administrative tab
Language for non-unicode programs is English (Australia)

Codepage is 850 - Multilingual

I changed from US to AUS ans still have the same problems.

Does PSPad look for the character or the ASCII code?
Are you able to advise what is used to obtain the required character §?

DoubleClick on the char in Ascii chart.
In unicode Windows you need to use unicode char code. Write please 0167 instead of 167 with ALT. I don't know why, you need to ask MS about it.
