#1 FTP shows links as directories

Posted by: stanislav.mikusek | Date: 2015-06-30 11:52 | IP: IP Logged

Hi,

I'm PsPad with FTP connection to AIX unix server.
I'v source files in my working directory on server, and links to libs.
I can't edit links. They have a directory icon in FTP.
But FTP protocol works with target files of links. It gets target and puts into target.

I'd like to edit links via FTP.

Which PSPad version? Do you use latest 4.6.0 build from PSPad developer forum?

What do you use as FTP list? Old LIST command or new MLSD command? You will see it in the PSPad FTP connection settings

I'm latest build 4.6.0.(2261)

I've tried settings LIST and MLSD. Bouth are the same. I'v SSL/TSL security disabled.

Files have good unix listing, but wrong icon :

File Size Modified Type Rights
..
lib 30.6.2015 lrwxrwxrwx [link to dir, correct dir icon]
curses.h 30.6.2015 H lrwxrwxrwx [link to file, wrong dir icon]
asist.c 30.6.2015 C -rw-r--r-- [file, correct file icon]

Connect to your FTP server
Open FTP Log
press LIST button on the left side of the log window
Send me log (file list is enough) in mail as attachment (spaces are important and mail client can damage it)

Do it for old file listing and MLSD too please

And I need information how to differentiate between file and dir link. Both have same attributes and FTP server won't give me any other info. Maybe TYPE?

Ok, I'v sent it.

I'v searched FTP internal commands, "dir" or "ls -l" shows target, but not a target type.
I think the only way is tracking to the target.

I use the Total Commandet with the Secure FTP plugin too.
It resolves links as a special icon, with sppecial menu on the right click.

Logs and picture are in my mail to support@pspad.com .
