#1 Pup programs on latest executable...

I installed the latest executable on my new dell. An optional series of programs appeared. I apparently agreed to block and surf and it did number on my firefox install. Hours of fun getting rid of it. Malware bytes helped. Was the file hijacked or is pspad supplying pup programs?

I really need to know if the pspshellx64.dll in the folder c:\program files (x86)\pspad editor\pspshellx64.dll is a windows system file. It is locked in use and I can't remove it. Maybe from safe mode. any thoughts.

The Block and Surf program is BAD news. Doesn't even have an add/remove uninstall program.

Please help with this.

pspshellx64.dll is context menu extension - right mouse possibility to open file with PSPad.
It's registered library - this is a reason, why you can't remove it.
Run PSPad, go to menu settings / System integration and disable integration in explorer or choose registry way and close PSPad.
This should unregister this file.

Or you can do it manually:
open command line window
regsvr32 /u "c:\program files (x86)\pspad editor\pspshellx64.dll"

First question is where did you download your copy of PSPad from?

As to Block and Surf - www.2-viruses.com
