feature request: single-key line delete

#1 feature request: single-key line delete

Posted by: Gorlash | Date: 2014-09-29 20:44 | IP: IP Logged

This is a function that I've had in my past editor (MultiEdit), and tend to use alot.

I was thinking that it would be easy to implement with Control-X; if user hits control-X, but no text is highlighted, then just delete the entire line including newline. The current cursor position should be ignored.

Please consider this, if you have time to look into it.

Standard in editor world for line delete is Ctrl+Y
If you want to have it as Ctrl+X, you can redefine it in Program settings / Key Map in editor commands section. Look for LineDelete

Oh My !!! Control-Y is perfect!! I just didn't know about it; it's not included in your "Keyboard shortcuts" page, or else I'm just blind...

That's fine, thank you very much!

Later note:
1. I don't actually *see* "LineDelete" in Program Settings: KeyMap: Edit section; do I need to add that somehow??

2. Also, a line that I delete using Control-Y is not in the clipboard buffer, so I cannot insert it elsewhere using Ctrl-V ; is there a LineInsert function or some such?

Oops, nevermind... I was looking at the "Edit" group, not the "Editor" group... now I see everything!!

Unfortunately, InsertLine does not actually insert what I previously LineDeleted...
I tried assigning it to a different key (Ctrl-I), but that made no difference;
InsertLine appears to just insert a blank line; I need to be able to insert what I previously DeleteLined... can I do this??
