#1 broken syntax highlighting

Posted by: Gorlash | Date: 2014-09-24 22:02 | IP: IP Logged

It's a 63,000 line file from a program called Sw_iss File Knife ...
(this website doesn't allow the word "Sw_iss" without the underscore???)

The home website is here:
stahlworks dot com/dev/sw_iss-file-knife.html

In the first paragraph, there's a link to a zip file that contains executable and all the sources. The sources *do* compile with MinGW, and the resulting executable runs properly, though there are hundreds of warnings if one uses -Wall

I don't know if you feel like looking at this, but thought I'd let you know about it...

And your problem?
Sorry, but I didn't find what do you want.

If PSpad doesn't show you syntax, it can be caused by length of your file. Go to program settings / direct edit. Increase value of variable hlUptosize e.g. to:
HLUpToSize=1000000

If you don't see syntax highlight due to bad extension, you can anytime change syntax by clicking on syntax name on status bar, clicking on syntax tool bar button or menu View/change syntax

Hi pspad;
Oops, I forgot to show the problem filename, which is sfk.cpp - so file extension is not an issue.

Number of lines probably *is* the issue, but I cannot find the entry that you suggested that I modify; under "Program Settings", there is no entry labeled "Direct Edit" ... I tried looking through all the entries, and don't see anything about "maximum number of lines"... could you clarify this point?? Thanks!

BTW I'm using version 4.5.9 (2501)

Go to menu settings / Program settings
button Direct edit
you will see list of the variables and values.
There is a variable HlUpToSize
change value to e.g. 1 milion

OH!! Okay, I didn't notice the button, I was looking at the menu on the left!

Yep, that worked... thanks. The "problem" file was over 60,000 lines, and 2059 KB !!
I set that field to 2500000, and it works fine now. Cool.

BTW, I'm still curious as to what the issue is, with the word Sw_iss in this forum??

Any time I try to put that word in a message (without the underscore), I get:

"A word you have used in your post has been banned from use. Please use a different word or contact the forum administrators."

I ended up having to delete my original message yesterday, and add it back in one phrase at a time until I found what the forums was complaining about!!

The value means file size of bytes. I think 1 MB is enough winking smiley
