#1 User Highlighter not picking up all file types

Posted by: Neil | Date: 2013-08-29 22:30 | IP: IP Logged

Hi Jan

I have configured User Highlighter to process the following file types:

*.txt,*.mac,*.pmlfrm,*.pmlobj,*.pmlfnc

PSPad processes *.pmlfrm,*.pmlobj,*.pmlfnc files ok, but not *.txt & *.mac.

Thanks,

Run PSPad .
Go to "Settings / Custom highlighter ...". Choose "your" highlighter.
Add a comma and a new suffix to the field "comma separated file extensions", such as "*.previous" change to "*.previous,*.txt".
Save, close the form .

Now you can see extensions ".previous" and "*.txt" in the "Settings / Settings highlighters ..." in "your" highlighter on a card "specification" and .txt files are opened with this highlighter.

Close PSPad.

Run PSPad.
Now you can see only the old ".previous" in the "Settings / Settings highlighters ..." in "your" highlighter on a card "specification". And .txt files aren't opened with this highlighter.
Strange , isn't it?
So this is the wrong way. We have to do it differently.
Finish PSPad .

Run PSPad .
Go to "Settings / Custom highlighter ...". Choose (a second time) "your" highlighter. In the "comma separated file extensions" you have the correct value "*.previous,*.txt".
Save , close the form .

Now you can see extensions ".previous" and "*.txt" in the "Settings / Settings highlighters ..." in "your" highlighter on a card "specification" and .txt files are opened with this highlighter.
That is stable after a restart PSPad or Windows.

Hello
Extensions for custom highlighters can be defined in Custom highlighter definition.
In the Hihglighter settings, field for extensions is disabled for the custom highlighter.
So it's impossible you modified it in the Highlighter settings as you wrote on the begin.
