#1 Silly Names for default files...

Posted by: Gilou27 | Date: 2013-05-14 08:38 | IP: IP Logged

Hello everybody!

I used PSPAD for many years under windows XP.

Now I bought a new computer under windows 7 and I use version

4.5.7 (2450) Portable with french translation

Everithing works fine but one little thing:

When I open the editor the default filename that appears in the tab is something like
1..ƒz³w$ý

Then if I open a new file (CNTRL N) PSP opens a new tab with a correct name

2..Nouveau1.txt

I tried to change the settings of "ANSI or UTF or automated codin" without
any any success. It doen't seem to be a problem related to character coding.

Has it something to do with french translation?

How can I fix this problem ?

Thanks in advance for help.

hello

Gilou27:

cordialement

Hello

I tested it. In program settings / Files and dirs I set open PSPad with new file (you can set PSPad to start without new file). Even I switched language to French, PSPad starts with Nuoveau1.txt

Hello Kyodev and "Pspad"
Thanks for your answers
Alas the problem is still unsolved.

I did as told by Kyodev: no result. As suggested by "Pspad" I tried to modify the settings: even if asked to "not open an empty file" (in my case "ne pas ouvrir
de fichier vide par défaut"), it still opens an empty folder with a silly name. By the way the name has changed: now it is [èŸT] (verbatim, with square brackets). The title bar of the application reads PSPad - [èŸT]

If you agree, I'll download a "fresh" version of PSPAD and try it in English
with another install folder...

hello,

I do not understand, I tested with:
* Win7 & 2455 4.5.8
* on my netbook with XP
** stable 4.57
** 4.5.8-2455
the opened file is well: nouveau1.txt.

If you change the options (File / new type file) type, eg xhtml, it's ok?
and if you come back on a text type?

Thanks very much

Finally I found the trick !! javascript:tx('grinning smiley');

The problem is not due to PS PAD itself but to the "notepad.exe"
substitution file for Windows Notepad.

I just migrated from windows XP to windows 7 ultimate beceause I
bought a new configuration (Intel core I7 -8 Gb Ram to replace my
old pentium IV with 2 Gb Ram)

This new win 7 is an "ultimate" "64 bit" version.

I reproduced my former installation: use a "Portable" PSPAD and just replaced
the existing Windows "Notepad" with the "notepad.exe" file provided in the
PSPAD portable folder (The one with a red icon)

I just noticed that the shortcut on my desktop was pointing toward the
"notepad exe" file I putted into the C:\Windows File. When I changed this
shortcut to point towards F:\PORTABLES\PSPad editor\PSPad.exe everithing works
fine !!

Thank you very much again and Sorry for the trouble.

PS: (by the way congratulations for your french translation!! )
I have some other suggestions and remarks but they are out of the scope
of this thread. I'll open another one in the general section.

you can do it in this forum:
forum.pspad.com

j'ai complété une traduction qui avait l'air de partir un peu à l'abandon, mais effectivement, il y aurait peut-être matière à la réviser et personne ne semble actif sur cette traduction. nous pourrons donc collaborer, Mp si tu veux.
