i have 7957 lines to join and then sort using
Find: (\d\D+)
Replace: $1\n
[X]RegEx
(o)Backward
that is to much for PSPAD to handle--how many lines can it handle without locking up?

I don't think so it's too much.
I don't understand. You join lines, then split it to individual lines back?
Where is sorting in this operation?
