#1 Donations by Credit/Debit Card

I wanted to donate some $10 - $20 a couple of times already, but i will NEVER go through all the bull* of setting up a paypal account or anything like that (waaaaaay too much trouble for a "i want things done yesterday" guy like me). And i wonder, how many other guys like me, with an ordinary credit/debit card but no paypal bull*, are out there cursing...

So here's my two cents: why don't you try, just for a couple of months or so, to enable a direct VISA/Mastercard payment option? (i'm sure there are many better ecommerce services out there, but this is one i know: smallbusiness.yahoo.com (yes, this will set you back some $30/month, but maybe it's worth trying for a couple of months and see if your donations increase substantially, and i mean something like 2x, 5x, or even more)

VERY IMPORNAT: You should make ALL the available options (PayPal/VISA/MasterCard/AmEx/Whatever) *VERY* CLEARLY VISIBLE on your donation page!!!

PS
I promise, cross my heart, etc, that if you enable VISA playment i'll donate $10 right away (maybe i'll even throw some 20 bucks but i can't promise that, i'm a pretty poor guy by all standars...)

PPS
Although a high-profile merchant account (like yahoo's) is a bit expensive, at least you'll (most likely) not face any security worries from your potential donors. As an alterative to yahoo (and similar dedicated e-commerce services), as far as i know many registars offer e-commerce solutions for their custumers out-of-the-box for a fee (but you'll have to check this out for yourslef, i never actually tried it myself)

Unless something has changed you don't need a PayPal account to pay in to a PayPal account by card.

Just checked

Not really, they will ask for all my details, and if you read their terms of service and privacy policies they simply suck.

In fact, paypal DOES open an account for you where they store all your personal details (they even require your phone number and email address!!!) just as if you would create an account, but they call it "account optional". From their description:
-------
"However, PayPal will retain the information you provide us in relation to your use of PayPal Account Optional in accordance with our Privacy Policy in order to (1) enable you to use PayPal Account Optional for further one-off transactions [...] (3) to make it easier for you to open a PayPal account in the future."
--------

I will never use paypal (or similar), none of the people i know uses paypal, nor do we accept to give away UNNECESSARY personal details to such "enterprizes" that are bluntly misguiding their customers. I can see no reason why paypal needs to know my telephone number and email address, in my view paypal and the likes are despicable parasites that i will never encourage.

I am using PayPal many years.
Yes, they collect some personal information, but this is cause it's "bank account".
In whole history I havn't any problem with PayPal, I didn't get any spam from them.
They use mail address to inform you in case when some rules has been changed or will be changed.

I have no experience with Amazon wishlist. As I saw it, I can store there items I want. But I don't know how to use it with PSPad winking smiley
