#1 FTP SSL/TLS problem

Posted by: atomik | Date: 2012-05-13 21:59 | IP: IP Logged

Hi guys,

Sorry if I this question has been already answered but forum searching is not working for me so I have to ask direct question.

I tried to use SSL connection on FTP but it doesn't seem to work. I've installed additional SSL library files with no change.

Connection window shows:

23:49:34 >> Connecting to: main5.amu.edu.pl
23:49:36 >> Can't connect
23:49:36 >> LastError: 10061

There is nothing wrong with server or user password because it works on FileZilla.

What's wrong?

Error 10061 means

Quote:
Connection refused.
No connection could be made because the target computer actively refused it. This usually results from trying to connect to a service that is inactive on the foreign host—that is, one with no server application running.

Download support libraries from link you see on the bottom FTP connection settings dialog
Unpack it into PSPad folder
Ensure you checked Use SSL/TLS if available option in FTP connection settings

Thank you.

I've know what that error means.
I've already installed additional SSL library files (mentioned about it in my first post)

Still the same error.

Any hint?

I forgot to say, that "Use SSL/TLS, if available" has been checked and still is.

Tried it on another computer in another location. Still the same error.

Isn't there required any special FTP port?
if yes, specify it in name:
main5.amu.edu.pl:port

I suggest you to activate (check) options:

compatible mode
passive mode

FileZilla uses port 22 (standard for SSL isn't it?). I've tried to add :22 after host name with no joy :(

pspad:

passive mode

All combinations already tested before.. but tested again.. no change?

PS
FileZilla conects without any problem. At first connection it asked to save server's certificate (as it should be). PSPad never asked for it so I suppose it does not even try to connect on SSL. In fact, my active connections listing from COMODO firewall proves it.
There you go COMODO connections both plain FTP (port 21) so there is no surprise, server refuses it. "Use SSL/TLS.." option is checked (just in case you ask).
As opposed, you can have a look at FileZilla connections on the same server FileZilla connections. Maybe it shades some light on that problem?

Certificate? Are you sure you don't exchange FTPS and SFTP?

Hmm.. maybe this is a clue?
My ISP demands SFTP connection and what is set on FileZilla is "SFTP-SSH File Transfer Protocol"
After your question I suppose I've mixed up something?

So.. my next question is: How do I create SFTP connection to server? (in PSPad ofcourse)

Still looking for options. I've changed COMODO firewall policy for PSPad to "Trusted application" (it was "FTP client" before) and I've got another behaviour:
21:23:54 >> Connecting to: main5.amu.edu.pl:22

21:23:54 << SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.1p1 Debian-5
21:24:24 <<
21:24:24 << SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.1p1 Debian-5
21:24:54 <<
21:24:54 >> Can't connect
21:24:54 >> LastError: 10060

Server name is appended with :22 port number.
There is the same behaviour with or without SSL/TLS option checked (passive and compatibility options tested as well).

Any clue?
