#1 css: box-shadow is undefined property.

Posted by: wimb | Date: 03/19/2012 16:45 | IP: IP Logged

Hi,

Amongst other, box-shadow is rendered as an undefined property.

It is present in CSS.DEF:

[box_shadow | box shadow]
box-shadow: %inset% %horizontal% %vertical% %blur% %spread% %color%;§|

and also listed as keyword:
box-shadow:

I use pspad 4.5.7.2437.

What can I do to make pspad recognize this property?

W.

I think he means it's not recognised by the highlighter as a valid CSS attribute. Same with a lot of HTML5 and CSS3 stuff.

this is because of the difference between CSS 2.1 and 3. Today more and more CSS 3 features will be used together with the older ones.

Jan will have to raise the css validity check to CSS3 level.

Manfred since you keep doing an updated definition file it might be worth it if you can give Jan a list of all CSS and HTML5 stuff that is not supported in the highlighter.

Wow just been testing and was surprised to find Jan has already added support for such things as the nav, header and footer HTML tags. Guess it's just mainly the CSS that needs updating then.

Exactly. PSPad doesn't do any CSS level check. It highlights source code only.

Please Manfred, send me any missing keywords.

Ok, here are the missing keywords until now:

background-size:
border-top-left-radius:
border-top-right-radius:
border-bottom-left-radius:
border-bottom-right-radius:
box-shadow:
box-size:
opacity:
outline-offset:
resize:

-moz-
-o-
-ms-
-webkit-

-moz-border-radius-bottomleft:
-moz-border-radius-bottomright:
-moz-border-radius-topleft:
-moz-border-radius-topright:

not sure, what to do with the prefixes. Is it possible to highlight them also?

The last 4 moz-border... are only present in the keywords area, because of the special "mozilla only" syntax.

In the future I will keep you informed about changes.

regards Manfred

Not sure Jan should be supporting draft stuff ie: -o-, -moz-, -webkit-, -ms- as they are not yet properly implemented in the browsers anyway and will be replaced with just the nomal CSS once working properly. Good example being border-radius where you used to have to use -moz-border-radius but now it supports just border-radius.

I did find this list from Mozilla which should be useful for Jan to check against his list of supported CSS

I don't know CSS. It means prefixes are used for any keywords (attribute)?
Maybe there will be a way how to highlight prefixes with a different color...

I will see. At least I will add missing keywords.

If there are some missing HTML5 tags, send me it please too
