#1 Artifacts / trash characters

Hi!

Only been using this program for an hour, so far I'm amazed and will be switching to this editor full time, but there's one big bug I ran into...

When I use any font other than Courier New, I get crazy artifacts in the code. Vertical lines, bits of other letters, etc.

I searched and found discussions of this dating back to 2005 so I'm not very hopeful of a fix, but is there a common workaround? Tried messing with lots of settings, turning off syntax highlighting fixes it but obviously I need that on.

(Windows XP 32 btw)

Thanks!

Hi,
can you specify, in which cases you see the mentioned artifacts (file type, text content, font used, maybe highlighter ...) a screenshot sould be helpful too.
With the usual fixed-width fonts available on win XP and several others, I don't see such buggy display - of course some simpler fonts cannot display certain characters etc.
Some display bugs can be seen in rather rare cases, e.g. due to incomplete redrawing, by replacing in very long lines, wordwrapping etc.

I guess, the bugreport from 2005 will probably not be relevant for display features, as the new versions has evolved since then.
Possibly, you can try some adjustments:
Settings
[Special settings]
ExtraLineSpacing=1
OldSpecialChars=1

hth,
