Hello Jan,

we are missing the little square that marks the files that are set readonly.
Is it possible to bring it back?

Greetings,
Dirk

Sorry, but I forgot the main things:
- PSPad should warn the user that the opened file is readonly
- PSPad should not allow the user to make changes in the script

I think this was the behaviour of the older versions.

Dirk

Hello Jan,

we are having still trouble with the readonly feature.
An additionally issue happens on "File|Save all".
PSPad seems to have forgotten, that the files are locked by itself and warns that files are readonly.

Please fix this and the other allready mentioned problems soon - it is very unpleasant to work with the current versions.

Greetings,
Dirk

Does it happen with current 4.6.0 build?

Hello Dirk

I am sorry, I wasn't able to simulate it before, so build 2660 doesn't fix your problem.
But today I was successful in simulation, I found and fixed problem. I hope next build will be OK

Hello Jan,

thank you very much for the changes.

But I'm sorry to say that we are still not happy with the fact that one can make changes in the script (if readonly). Prohibiting the user from this is extremely important to us!
We also need the file in the program window marked, so one can easily see it is readonly!

When I'm changing
"Program settings|Tools|File locking" to "Don't lock file when open"
then PSPad opens readonly files exactly the way we want it to!

Sorry to bother you again!

Greetings
Dirk

Hello Jan,

just give a file the readonly attribute. Then open this file in PSPad.
For comparison open an additional file that is not readonly.

If "Settings|Program Settings|Tools|File locking" is set to "Lock file with R/O attribute" then PSPad shows a Message, that the file is readonly. After you have closed this message you will not notice any differences in the editor window between the readonly and the not-readonly file unless you try to save them.

Now repeat the same procedure with PSPad "Settings|Program Settings|Tools|File locking" is set to "Don't lock file when open".
You will have the filename of the readonly file marked with a square on the tab and you will not be able to make any changes in the editor!

Additionally to a message this second beheaviour would be the right one in our opinion for every chosen method also including "Smart file locking with LCK file".

Greetings and many thanks for your patience
Dirk

I hope we both are talking about the latest build

Switch on File locking with R/O
Choose any file and set R/O attribute to this file to simulate file locking
Open this file with PSPad

PSPad will tell you file is locked by another user
You can't edit this file
File is marked with black square on the tab as standard R/O file
You can't switch edit mode with toolbar LOCK button - button is disabled.

I can add any other identification, but file tab icons are combination of the 11 icons. Add another icon will add lot of combinations. Even file is locked, it can be saved to FTP, can be scroll synchronized, autoupdated, ...
