#1 cannot display Asian language

Posted by: ben2 | Date: 2006-03-07 21:35 | IP: IP Logged

Hi,

When I open or edit html files with Asian fonts, say Chinese, Japanese, pspad cannot display them correctly ( English is still good, but Japanese is messed up). I have changed to different code pages under pspad, but not much help. When I open those html files under MS Notepad, EditPad Lite, NoteTab lite, etc, no problem at all.

I also noticed that the Asian languages in the html files saved by pspad cannot be viewed properly under IE, Firefox or other editors.

Has anyone have this kind of problems?

Thank you.

Ben

I recently joined the pspad family. The version I am using is 4.5.0 (2183), the latest.

I'm having the same problem with Japanese on 4.5.0 2183.
All my files are horribly mangled up - quite useless.

I also got a problem about displaying Chinese files before.
I just changed the font from Courier New to Courier, and everything is OK.

Maybe this information can help you.

Yes, it seems to be related to fonts.
I've tried various fonts, but they all have problems - ends of lines chopped off, letters scattered about, missing letters, sizes and spacing distorted, kanji characters treated as two characters... but the exact problems are different depending on the font.

I didn't seem to have any problems with 4.3

It's very disappointing because I thought I'd finally found the editor I was looking for with good support for UTF-8. sad smiley

btw Courier doesn't include Japanese characters, and I'm pretty sure you'd have a hard time displaying Chinese with it too!

Version 4.3.3 doesn't work in unicode. It works with one font charset only

I download the build 2197. The problem is solved. I opened several Chinese and Japanese files under CodePage ANSI. They look fine.

Thanks, Jan.
